RAF Nocton Hall Hospital

Hospital

During last week I was also working on something for another project with 4 other people which required us to think of some sort of photo editorial to place in a magazine. We ended up going to the RAF Nocton Hall hospital about a 25 minute drive away from us for our shoot which was awesome.

It’s actually massive but been stripped of anything valuable by now which makes it just that bit more creepy.

40 Chalkboards

Oct 17.09 / Design, Making, Work in Progress

Chalkboard

Last week I finished one of the projects that had been set which was simply to create something that encourages the viewer to interact with it at A5 size, landscape, laid flat and to create 40 copies of it.

The actual project itself in the end is going to be sent to a guy in Australia who will pick 40 of the best submissions then combine them into 40 piles to mail back out to the 40 people who were selected to be in it, so if you were lucky enough to be selected you would receive one of your 40 pieces along with 39 other pieces from the other selected people. Am I making sense?

I decided to make 40 mini chalkboards because, well, you can pretty much draw all over it, wipe it and draw all over it again.

Chalkboards

I am lucky enough to have a Dad who was more than happy to cut me up some MDF and cut out the little chalk holder on each board.

Then it took about a few hours across two nights to paint each one all over with blackboard paint and let them dry.

Chalkboards

Chalkboards

As they have a chance of being sent to creative people across the globe, it’s a good opportunity for self advertising which is why I wrote down my portfolio website on the back of each one. I also numbered every single board and added a sticker asking people who receive them to send me a picture of whatever they draw on them which I thought would make a nice photo collection afterwards.

Supplied each board with a piece of chalk and taped them down so they don’t fall apart during transportation!

Then finally, spent some time photographing the boards for my portfolio!

Absolutely Mental

Oct 16.09 / Photographs, Shopping

Hello everybody, things have been so crazy lately with work, I don’t know exactly what I was expecting going into my third year of a design course, but I’m definitely having to do some quick adjusting to the fast pace of everything, which is why I was so glad to get my computer back last week and immediately update my Stickies app with a rather long list of everything that needs to be done. (That list has actually got longer since then).

365 update

So first of all, I uploaded the big batch of 365 photographs to Flickr. Because I’ve been busy with all the projects I’ve had, you can probably tell which ones were just snapped for the sake of the project. I kind of hate having them there but I’m just going to man up and carry on.

Gold Apple

How pretty is this golden apple handbag? One of my friends bought it for my birthday but we didn’t get round to exchanging presents (we are two days apart) until we (and a few more of us) met up for lunch about two weeks ago.

Diana Mini

Diana and Baby

Then as well as that, they had all chipped in together to get me a Diana Mini! It is tiny when you compare it to the regular Diana and it’s super light as well. Both of them are currently loaded with film, but I haven’t managed to finished either roll yet. I haven’t worked with film since college, so it’s pretty fun to try something different again.

I haven’t forgotten you

Apologies

I’m really sorry I haven’t been able to update in a while, my computer took slightly longer than anticipated to repair! But I’ve been told that it’s all ready to be picked up, so my mum and sister are kindly making the journey to the Apple store, then straight to me at university in a few days, so I’ll be back soon for definite with big updates to my 365 project and other things I’ve been up to.
