Yeondoo Jung, Wonderland
May 21.09 / Inspire, Photographs
I came across this series of photographs quite a long time ago and only remembered them after coming across them in my bookmarks again. Although quite old, I still think these pieces of work are worth mentioning. In a series named ‘Wonderland’, photographer Yeondoo Jung recreated scenes from a number of children’s drawings using real people and I have to say the resulting photographs are fantastic!
Take a look at the rest of the Wonderland series here.

Manon Gignoux

How beautiful are these textiles pieces by French artist Manon Gignoux? Exploring the theme of ‘wear and tear’, this talented woman uses old fabrics and objects to create new and one of a kind pieces which I think are absolutely amazing.
Polaroids
May 16.09 / Out & About, Photographs

I’ve had a polaroid camera for a while now, but due to the original film being discontinued, I’ve been using the film really sparingly which I shouldn’t really. I should probably just have fun with it, but I can’t help it!
Luckily though, The Impossible Project is aiming to re-start production of film for Polaroid cameras which hopefully will be successful.
If just the style of polaroids is more of your thing though, there’s also a website called Poladroid which allows people to transform digital photographs into faux polaroid pictures. I personally haven’t used it, but it seems to be very popular.

But they definitely make colourful photographs.
No Engine Required
May 01.09 / Making

Sometimes I just like to make really big things. Although in this case it was for a project way back in the first year of university. It was all about making a sculpture illustrating a certain quote, and I went with ‘No engine required’.
I thought I’d lost these photographs after a major hard drive malfunction but I recently came across a back up folder on somebody else’s! I’m glad I still have these because somebody threw the engine away without asking me after they displayed it in the building window.

Just a small bit of extra news, I broke my camera lens today and I am very, very annoyed with myself. Hopefully I will be able to get a replacement soon. Argh!
