Marc Johns
Mar 28.09 / Illustration, Inspire

I’ve become a major fan of an illustrator that I came across on Flickr a few months ago called Marc Johns. His illustrations are simple but are witty rather amusing and have the ability to cheer me up instantly. I was contemplating buying a print or two from his shop, but he recently announced on his blog that a whole book of his drawings is going to be published in April which I am definitely going to buy as soon as it’s released!
Take a peek at some of the inside pages in his blog entry, A BOOK!!! Serious Drawings to be released in April.
Window display project (Semester B)
Mar 24.09 / Design

Window display project (Semester A)
Mar 18.09 / Design
During this year at university, the whole second year were set a brief to design a window display next to the entrance every week in a group of around 5 people. I’ve loved walking to class each week and seeing what each group comes up with, some being really cool but some really bad.
It’s been funny to hear what the general public think of them too when they walk past, the best being a couple arguing for nearly 10 minutes about whether or not filling a window full of balloons is classed as ‘art’.
As there are quite a lot and the project isn’t over yet, I’ve split the project to show you into semesters, so here are the displays from semester A – from September to Christmas.

Birthdays
Mar 14.09 / Food & Drink, Making, Occasions
It was my friend’s birthday last week and me and two friends bought her a polaroid camera and baked her a chocolate fudge icing covered cake in the shape of an ‘e’.
If I didn’t go to university, I think I could just work on wrapping presents all day making huge decorative bows, ribbons and tags.
The amount of sugar in the cake resulted in me and my friend having a mega sugar crash after a few hours unfortunately!
Dinosaur TV animations
Mar 11.09 / Animation
I’ve been working on a make believe TV channel project over the last few weeks and had to come up with the channel identities you see inbetween programmes and some programme announcements etc. I learnt how to use Adobe After Effects to make these which was a nightmare at first, but it’s not too bad to use now!
